  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1/2 c apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 2 cups homemade ketchup (but we won’t judge if it’s store bought, either)
  • Optional – add your choice of hot sauce for a little extra kick!

Heat oil in a pot of high sided pan on medium heat. Add your chopped onions and saute for about 3 minutes, until translucent. Add in the apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire, lemon juice, and sweetener of choice. Stir and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add in the ketchup (and hot sauce, if you so choose) and continue to stir for another 3 minutes.

Transfer mixture to the blender and blend on low for 30 seconds. Scrape down sides and blend for another half minute, until the sauce is a smooth consistency.
